The City Council will consider an ordinance adopting the tax rate for FY 2019-2020 at a special called meeting to be held on September 24th,2019 at 6:30 PM at the City of Palmer City Hall located at 113 W Jefferson St, Palmer, Texas


Public Works Operator


PRIMARY DUTY: Under supervision, performs basic labor tasks in support of the installation, repair and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection facilities, streets, equipment and infrastructure for the City of Palmer.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:  Heavy work.  Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be capable of performing in confined space and/or on uneven low traction surfaces.


THE CONDITIONS THE WORKER WILL BE SUBJECT TO IN THIS POSITION: The work is performed primarily within outside environmental conditions. Applicant is subject to environmental conditions common to this region.  Activities occur primarily outside with temperatures that may be below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees. Duties may require exposure to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, and exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Weekends are in rotation and on call emergency response as needed is mandatory.

Applicant will preferably have a Water Operator License and Wastewater Operator License or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.   A class B CDL will be required within 6 months.

Supports the relationship between the City of Palmer and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interaction with citizens, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

Spraying for mosquitoes

Beginning this week, the City of Palmer will be spraying for mosquitoes every Tuesday night, and Thursdays as well if deemed necessary.  The spraying schedule will begin on Tuesday, June 3.  Spraying will begin at 9:00 P.M.

The City of Palmer will be using a general use pesticide which contains 30% Permethrin and 30% Piperonyl Butoxide to spray for mosquitoes.  As with most pesticides, this product is harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin.  Contact with skin, eyes or clothing should be avoided.  If contact occurs, wash thoroughly with soap and water before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet.  Repeated skin contact may cause allergic reactions.  Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.  Contact with pets should also be avoided.

Water Rate Increase effective February 1, 2014

In the regular meeting of the Palmer city council on January 21, 2014 approved an increase in water rates.  The increase was necessary due to the Rockett SUD increasing the wholesale water rate to Palmer by $0.25 per 1000 gallons.  The increase will result in the average Palmer customer paying $1.75 more each month.  The new water rates go into effect on the bills issued February 1, 2014.
